Hi Tamas,

Thank you for your kind words. You can change the theme per screen. To do
so, click in an empty area in the screen editor and then change the Theme
property in Properties View.

Hi!

I am a new user of this great tool, I use it as a plugin for eclipse.

The only thing I miss sofar is that I can not set the layout for screen level.
For example you would need this feature if some of your screens represent functional design (scetch layout) and others are more complex and represent layout design as well (clean layout).

Can such a working expected in further releases?

Thanks and keep up good work,

Basti,

You are right, this is a bug. I didn't realise you were talking about
screen flows and tried to test presentation and PDF export (which are
working fine). I'll look into fixing it.

Hi Peter,

thank you for explanation.

If I add the screen components I see the links, but of course between this "template screens" and not between the "real screens" using the templates.
I hadn't added my screen components to the story board, as in my case they are only templates I use to minimize redundancy, because WireFrameSketcher as far as I know does not support direct UI interactions (e.g. a page with an "expand button" which makes visible an additionally panel).

So I have to simulate such interactions by creating two screen which are almost identically. To avoid this duplication at least partially, I use a screen component (within assets) to share all common features of the page, including page links to other pages (screens).

Now for me it would be more reasonable NOT to include such "helper" screen components to the story board (wich will likely be used for customer presentations, as it is some kind of "internal design" for the Wireframe tool, not for the real solution and could irritate the customer.

Instead it would be nice, if the screenflow view could show links of used components (like screen components) even if they are not included within story board. Or, alternatively, to have some possibility to set some "internal" state for such screens, a little bit like the "mark as annotation" for the widgets.

best regards,
Basti

Hi Basti,

Thank you for your interest in WireframeSketcher and for your kind words!

Can you describe in more details what you are trying to do an where exactly do you see links being ignored? As a general rule, you need to make sure that the target screen of every link is also part of the storyboard. This is required if you need to make links work in PDF or HTML documents.

first of all i would like to say tanks for this very impressive, helpful and stable tool!

Right now I am evaluating it as possible sketching tool for preparation of a web ui change within my current project.

I noticed the possibility of using screen components as some kind of page masters to avoid duplications. I love this feature very much, especially the opportunity to overwrite parts of this component afterward!

Now i noticed the following behavior within the story board:
in the page flow window all links within screens are ignored, if they are defined within a reused screen component. This is sad to me, as it hides important information from the story board.

Is this an accident / bug or intentionally behavior?

Thank you very much in advance,
Basti

Thanks Chris, I really think that SVGs can add a lot of flexibility. I am working on some enhancements that allow to control how SVGs resize (9 slice scaling and similar). So it will be possible to create SVG images that look and resize like standard widgets.

Barrie,

WireframeSketcher is a tool for static wireframes so it does not handle interactivity. A standard way to do what you want is to create multiple screens that show different states. You can link them together for a click-through prototype. Use components to avoid screen duplication. Any screen can act as a component (master) so you can easily create screen variations. Let me know if this works for you.

Thank you for your kind words :)

There is no option to change the location of "assets" folder. I have this request on my todo list so I'll bump it's priority. You can also try using linked folders. Eclipse lest you do it in Folder creation wizard. Another option is to use symbolic links (junctions on Windows) on your file system. Let me know if this works for you.

I guess what I was looking for though was one that collapses out of the way, as with it allways expanded it kind of takes away from seeing whats behind it.

i suppose that crosses into the mid-fidelity area of prototyping i bet though.

Hi all,

I really like Wireframesketcher. It is a lot smoother than another mockup program implemented with Adobe Air ;)

I just wondered if there is any possibility to change the location of the 'asset' folder. By default the 'asset' folder needs to be located as a root folder in the project.

Currently I'm working in a Java Webproject and I would like to have the 'asset' folder in
project/documentation/ui/assets
.

Is this possible?

Thank you in advance,
Christoph

Thanks for the tip, but I'm not sure if that's what I am looking for.

The hand drawn style of the wireframesketcher is exactly what I want, and I've done many wireframes in this style before (using illustrator).

I would like to take these existing illustrator wireframes that I have and reuse them as assets in WireframeSketcher. How can I do this? I don't just want to use them as images, but rather as widgets that can be resized properly etc.

Is this possible, and if so, how?

Re: Search and replace?

Tom,

I think that what you are describing is already there. You can double-click a component and override some of its properties. See this blog post for more details:
http://wireframesketcher.com/blog/2011-10-03-overriding-component-properties-font-size-wiki-syntax.html

This approach should work well for your example with different selection. It's true that it doesn't work that well for text, since when you modify text, the text is copied locally and is no longer inherited.

Maybe a possible solution would be to use a general purpose text tool to do search and replace. WireframeSketcher uses XML format which you could process as text. For example Eclipse IDE provides such a tool under Search menu, and it can be used to Search and Replace across multiple files. WireframeSketcher Studio does not expose this tool, but it could... Then there are other options like sed.
